Every year, the Corporate and Business Law Journal selects approximately 30 first-year law students for membership. All students wishing to apply, regardless of ranking, must complete the Write-On Exam to join. The Write-On Exam tests candidates’ editing skills and legal writing abilities. CABLJ strongly encourages all students to participate in the Write-On Exam. Depending on each year’s staffing needs, CABLJ may accept up to 5 additional students who have submitted special petitions or who received the next highest scores on the Write-On Exam.

Candidates who accept membership offers must serve a two-year commitment to CABLJ. During their first year, members serve on editing teams that substantively edit, bluebook, and proofread CABLJ‘s content. In their second year, members are eligible to serve on CABLJ‘s Executive Board and to lead editing teams.
